A Novel Acoustic Resonator for Speed of Sound Measurement in Dense Organic Vapours

Speed of sound measurements are currently the utmost importance for development thermodynamic models fluids. A need accurate was identified siloxanes, because their use as working fluid in organic Rankine cycle power systems and scientific interest non ideal classical gas dynamics. The initiative designing realizing a novel acoustic resonator capable performing speed dense vapors at temperatures up to 400 \(^\circ \)C stemmed from these considerations. Preliminary unique experimental results presented siloxane D\(_6\) (dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane) two isotherms 346 348 pressures ranging form 5.5 bar 6 bar. These demonstrate first time possibility measuring vapor very high temperature. An initial comparison with estimations provided by current shows that calculated values approximately \(6\%\) higher.
